Mindfulness - Online Course

Find out what works for your busy mind

Mindfulness isn’t about getting rid of your thoughts.  But knowing that doesn’t necessarily make it easier to sit down and give it a go.

Across our three sessions, I’ll introduce you to different ways of practising. You’ll experience them for yourself, with time to ask questions and talk about what you notice.

We’ll explore:

  • What mindfulness actually is, with a little background and a straightforward introduction to the research.

  • One-, two- and five-minute exercises you can fit between the other things in your day.

  • Longer guided practices, including a body scan, so you can try different approaches.

  • What happens when you pause, noticing your thoughts, feelings and reactions without immediately having to do anything about them.

At the start, you’ll set an intention for what you’d like from the course. We’ll come back to it at the end and reflect on what you’ve discovered.

Some practices may suit you more than others.  That’s useful information, not a sign you’re doing it wrong.

Small group, no pressure to perform

There’ll be a maximum of 10 participants, with space for questions and conversation.

You’re welcome to share your experience, but you won’t have to tell the group anything personal. You can take part at your own pace.

There’s nothing to read or prepare beforehand. Just bring yourself and a little curiosity.

Something to come back to afterwards

You might finish a session thinking, “That was useful. Now, how did we do that again?”

After the final session, I’ll email you:

  • A PDF booklet with reminders of the simple exercises we’ve practised.

  • A recorded guided meditation to use in your own time.

  • A recorded body scan so you can revisit that practice too.

These are included in your course fee.

I’ll send them afterwards so you can spend our sessions experiencing the practices, rather than following a booklet or worrying about taking notes.

Then you’ll have something to help you keep going and find what fits into your day.

Who you’ll be spending the hour with

Hi, I’m Michelle, an empowerment coach, hypnotherapist and professional detangler of life’s messy stuff.

After more than 30 years working in the NHS and experiencing burnout myself, I know what it’s like to have a busy head and keep putting your own needs last.

I’ll guide you through the mindfulness activities, explain what we’re doing and make space for questions and conversation.

My approach is practical, warm and down to earth. You can turn up tired, curious, sceptical or wondering whether you’ll manage to sit still.

We’ll start wherever you are.

A few things you might be wondering

What if my mind won’t stop thinking?

You don’t need it to. We’ll practise noticing when your attention wanders and bringing it back. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to try again. We all do.

Do I need any experience or special equipment?

No previous experience needed. A comfortable chair, a drink and somewhere with as few interruptions as possible will do.

Bring a notebook if you like, but it isn’t essential.

Will I have to talk in the group?

There’ll be opportunities to discuss what you notice and ask questions, but you can choose how much you share.

Will the sessions be recorded?

No. The live sessions won’t be recorded, so there’s no replay if you miss one.

After the course, you’ll receive a separately recorded guided meditation and body scan, along with your exercise booklet, to use in your own time.

Come and give it a try

You don’t need to know whether mindfulness is “your thing” before you start. That’s what these three sessions give you the chance to find out.

Bring your busy mind, your curiosity and yourself as you are.

3, 12 and 18 November · 7.30–8.30 pm UK time
