Getting to Know Your Inner Committee

Who's running the show in your head?

One part of you wants to slow down. Another says you haven’t done enough.

You want to say no, but your people pleaser has already volunteered. Then your inner critic chips in to point out everything you could have done better.

Sound familiar?

Join me for a practical, interactive afternoon getting to know some of the different parts of you influencing your thoughts, decisions and behaviour.

We’ll explore  how these parts helped you, when their help starts costing you and what you can do when they take over.

Leave with a clear understanding of your own inner committee and a simple way to pause before automatically saying yes, pushing harder or doubting yourself enabling you to begin giving yourself more choice.

Get to know the committee behind your decisions

Your inner critic, people pleaser, perfectionist and pusher can all have plenty to say about how you should live your life.

Often, these parts of you have helped you succeed, fit in or get through difficult situations. But when they’re making every decision, you can end up exhausted, second-guessing yourself or doing things you don’t really want to do.

In this workshop, we’ll explore:

  • Who tends to take charge. Begin recognising some of the parts of you that show up at work, at home and in your relationships.

  • What they’re trying to do for you. Look beyond the frustration and get curious about why these patterns developed.

  • When their help comes at a cost. Notice when high standards become relentless pressure, or being helpful means your own needs disappear.

  • How to pause before reacting. Practise noticing what’s happening so you have a little more room to choose your response.

Through guided exercises, reflection and discussion, you’ll begin recognising who tends to take charge in your own inner committee.

You'll practice noticing that familiar pressure to push harder, keep everyone happy or get everything right, and explore how you might respond differently.

The aim isn’t to get rid of parts of yourself. It’s to understand them better, so the loudest voice doesn’t automatically get the final say.

You don’t have to tell the room your life story

This is an interactive workshop, with guided exercises, time to reflect and opportunities to talk about what you notice.

I’ll explain each activity and guide you through it. You don’t need to know anything about your inner committee before you arrive.

You can choose how much you share. Some thoughts might be useful to discuss; others you may prefer to keep to yourself.

With a maximum of 12 participants, there’s room for questions and conversation. We’ll approach each other’s experiences with respect and ask everyone to keep personal stories shared in the group private.

There’ll be space for honest reflection and a little laughter too. Getting to know yourself doesn’t have to be a solemn affair.

Meet Michelle

Hi, I’m Michelle, an empowerment coach, hypnotherapist, Voice Dialogue facilitator and professional detangler of life’s messy stuff.

I know what it’s like to have a pusher who doesn’t recognise clocking-off time, a people pleaser who volunteers before you’ve thought it through and a critic who rarely gives you credit.

After more than 30 years working in the NHS and experiencing burnout myself, understanding these parts of me became an important part of changing how I lived.

Now I help others get curious about their own patterns and the parts of themselves that have been making the decisions.

I bring warmth, honest questions and a sense of humour. I’ll guide you through the activities and help you make sense of what you notice, without expecting you to have all the answers.

A few things you might be wondering

Do I need to know anything about the inner committee?

No. I’ll introduce the ideas and guide you through the activities. You might already recognise your inner critic or people pleaser, but you don’t need to know who’s who before you arrive.

Will I have to share personal things with the group?

You choose how much you share. There’ll be opportunities for discussion, alongside exercises and time for your own reflection.

Is this relevant to work as well as life outside it?

Yes. These patterns can show up wherever you are. Saying yes too quickly, pushing yourself too hard or questioning your decisions doesn’t necessarily stop when you leave work.

What’s included in the £65?

The 2½-hour interactive workshop, a workbook to use and take home, and tea, coffee and cake.  There's also free parking at the venue.

£65 is the introductory price for the 5th November workshop.

What should I bring?

Yourself, your curiosity and a pen. There’s nothing to study or prepare beforehand.

Give yourself a say in the meeting

If your inner committee spends a lot of time telling you to do more, try harder or keep everyone happy, come and get to know who’s doing the talking.

You don’t need to have it all worked out. That’s what we’re making time for.
